This was a Royal Shakespeare Company production, first performed at the Other Place Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon on 24th June 1981 and played in repertoire there until the 26th January 1982.

The production transferred to the Pit Theatre in the Barbican, opening on 20th July 1982 and ran in repertoire there until 2nd March 1983.
